Photo Essay: The Natural Beauty of Colorado

The beauty of the Colorado Springs area can be astounding.   A person simply has to slow down long enough to notice.

The temperatures are dropping and the weather is very pleasant. The trees are just now starting to think about changing colors.  Snow can be seen on the top of Pikes Peak.

Sondra:  You are correct.  Views like this are astounding.  You are very fortunate to be living in such a place of beauty.

As far as the snow you mentioned at the top of Pike's Peak... after the heat we have had in Fort Worth this summer... it really is nice to know it can still snow... somewhere.

Sondra. You have captured some excellent views of the landscape in Colorado, and just gives me another reason to come back for a visit before the snow comes.

Great photos, it must be a color explosion when the trees change. I am from WI and still remember the country areas ablaze with the changing colors, miss that here in Ventura CA, although we do have several trees that change colors, but nothing like you experience.  Post some pictures when the trees change.

Sondra, I like the mix of what you see as we get closer to the official start of Autumn. Snow caps at the distance, trees with less light and cooler temps getting into that changing color mode and also your picturesque sunrises or sunsets depending on whether you point yourself to the plains or the mountain direction. Seeing snow anywhere in September is always a spectacular view.

Hi Sondra,

Scott and I are skiers so we tend to head out West in the winter.  I really want to come sometime during another season to enjoy what Colorado and the West has to offer when there isn't snow on the ground.

Sondra - not only do I love your photos but your prose on the Natural Beauty of Colorado. My favorite sentence, " the trees are just now starting to think about changing colors... - so beautifully written. I love wildflowers and the mountains in the backdrop with snow on them are beautiful. You make me want to hop on a plane and visit your breath taking home state of Colorado!

Good morning Sondra, I had planned to visit your state this Fall but as things would go, I am unable to get there this year. So the photographic tour will just have to wait until next year. Depending on my business then, late spring might be a good replacement time. You do wonderful justice to capturing the beauty that is naturally and beautifully Colorado.

Sondra,

It just beautiful in Colorado.  Love the mountains.  I saw the mountains while flying out to Seattle to visit my daughter.  They really look gorgeous from the air.

Very nice Sondra. I was in Denver/Boulder last year at this time and went hiking - the colors were magnificent...drove through the Elk festival too - amazing to see Elk everywhere! Love your Colorado.
