THINGS TO DO IN DENVER - The Brown Palace
The Brown Palace is a luxury hotel where you can go for a special day, night or weekend and be pampered. The Brown is the 2nd oldest hotel in Denver, only to the Oxford Hotel and named for Henry C. Brown. The historic hotel opened their doors on August 12,1892 and has gone through many renovations over the years. 
This historic hotel was designed by Frank E. Edbrooke to be reminiscent of fine hotels "back east".

~ The 720' artesian well is located under the lobby floor and provides water to every room's facet.
~ Every President has resided in this hotel since 1905, except Calvin Coolidge.
~ In 1937, top two floors were the Skyline Apartments complete with kitchens, & were permanent residents until they moved out in the mid '80's.
~ There were rumors there was once a tunnel under the hotel connecting the hotel to the Navarre building where there was a gambling den & brothel at the time.
~ There have been stories over the years of the hotel being haunted by previous patrons.
~ President Eisenhower was practicing his golf swing, hit a wayward ball which hit the fireplace mantel, and remains to this day as a souvenir.
