I am sure you are well aware of the horrific wildfires that have devastated parts of Southern California over the past week. The news reports indicate that at least 14 wildfires have destroyed about 1,500 homes and burned 650 square miles from north of Los Angeles to southeast of San Diego. Over the past week, more than 880,000 people in San Diego County were forced to take refuge in emergency shelters or are staying with relatives and friends. Among them are some of our friends and colleagues.
As you likely know, CBC® has a significant presence throughout Southern California, including many of the areas impacted by the fires. Beyond the impact of this disaster on Coldwell Banker Commercial, we care about all the victims affected by the fires. In the past, you have always been very generous in helping to support disaster relief efforts, and it is becoming evident that assistance will again be vital.
To facilitate broker and sales associate giving to these relief efforts, Realogy, the parent company of Coldwell Banker Commercial, has launched a special fundraising campaign on behalf of the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Direct Relief International. Realogy will collect and disburse our broker and sales associate donations through its new charitable arm, the Realogy Charitable Foundation.
The Realogy Charitable Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity supporting the philanthropic and volunteer activities of Realogy Corporation and its family of companies in the communities where we have a presence. The Realogy Charitable Foundation will distribute 100 percent of all funds collected for this charitable cause. All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law, and you should consult your tax professional to determine the amount you can claim as a tax deductible contribution.
