Phew...got my sales and use tax return in

I don't know if all of you need to file these, but I have to do a sales tax return every quarter.  I cover 2 states - New York and Connecticut - so I'm filing 8 times a year.  (I think there is  a reciprocal option, but I prefer to space out the money giving, so for now, I've left it this way).

I always get stressed about forgetting to file...and once I almost did, but caught it right in time and e-filed that night. (that was for CT).

Well now, New York state requires you to file on line.  They started this last quarter.  So much for waiting for that delay of a few days in cashing the check while it's in the mail.  Thank goodness business is going well now.

So, the first time, trying to file this thing online was a NIGHTMARE AND A HALF.  We couldn't find the PIN they sent us, on the phone forever trying to contact them, the system was not working propoerly and whole slew of other things both in signing in and filing.

I was really dreading doing this again this quareter (and it's due today).  My assistant had told me they send a new PIN each quarter, but neither of us remembered seeing it.  Oh no, I can't go through this again...and during a crazy busy week.

Thankfully, I must have saved my User ID/password, and I could log in this morning and filing was much simpler.  I was pleasantly surprised and glad that I don't need to stress about this for the rest of day, and instead can focus on my customers.

...which reminds me..I need to skedaddle...another repeat customer.  See you guys later..I'm now much lighter without the weight on my shoulders

Hi Debbie-I gotta say, that filing taxes is the most difficult part of running my business-not that I don't want to pay-it's just that it feels like an annoying intrusion several times a year-I wish there were an easier way!

Just had to pay my estimated personal taxes and my corporate taxes are due next week.  There are days when I wonder if I've forgotten to file a peice of paper with one agency or another.  No handcuffs and prison for me please :-)

Hi Debbie ~ Wow all those tax forms sound like a major hassle .... guess I'm lucky that I live in Oregon, where we have no sales tax!  (I'll bet they make up for it with bigger property taxes and income tax rates, though!!)

Hmmm, I don't file but once a year and it's a pain then too.  I think it may be easier for me if I did decide to do that more than once a year, may have to look into that ;)!

Yes, Chris that is so right.  There are so many roles that we all need to play.

Debb - Yes, I think it will.  LOL, I thought you were a subscriber, too.  thx for adding me.

Brenda - It may be different by state.  At least here, it's in small chunks (which I actually prefer).

Debbie....I remember the time you wrote about this before in CT.  Luckily for me my husband is a CPA & overall tax guy so he figures out our estimated taxes every quarter well in advance of the deadline.

By the way, I spoke with Kyle McMurry of Send Out Cards this afternoon.  Great guy & I really like the product.
