“I Searched For Your Business Online And I Didn’t Find You!”
I found this blog extremely useful. Sometimes these tools are right in front of us and we do not leverage it. Tom highlights some useful sites to get listed to improve your business's visibility online.
“I Searched For Your Business Online And I Didn’t Find You!”
It is estimated that over 80% of businesses are not listed locally. That’s a staggering percentage considering all of the talk about the importance of being searchable.
Many people believe that if they see their business on the internet, they are already listed. That is not true. If you or somebody else did not claim your business, anybody could do so. Do you want your competitor filling out this information? Probably not. But it may not be malicious; maybe an incorrect address or phone number was entered. If you haven’t claimed the business it will be much more difficult to correct. So how do you know if you are listed on the big search sites? Try Getlisted.org!
There is a wealth of easy to get information about your business here. For starters, you will be able to see if you are listed on 6 search sites. If you would like to claim your listing on a site that you are not listed, you can! With the click of the mouse you can go directly to that site to be listed. Just follow the simple instructions. Pretty cool how it’s all right there.
Here is an example of a local company that I picked at random in the Placerville area.
Hey Day Café is located on Main Street in Placerville. I’ve never been there but I was curious and did a search. A Google search shows me the basic information, 9 reviews, and a spot on the map. The business has not been claimed by the owners. The picture above confirms what I found.
So how does your business look? Try Getlisted.org for yourself.
The importance of being found locally starts with being listed on the local search engines. Take a few minutes to get started, once you are listed you can always add to it later.
