Bella Testa, 9
School: Bella is a fourth grader at Oak Grove Elementary.
What Makes Her Special: Bella loves animals. Every year, on her birthday, Sept. 12, Bella asks friends and family for the gift she really wants—the ability to help animals in need. Party goers bring money and animal supplies which are then donated to the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter.
Going Above and Beyond: This year, Bella added another charity to her donation list. She also raised funds for Military Working Dogs. These specially trained dogs assist troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. They need cooling vests, eye goggles and earmuffs to keep them comfortable while they work.
How Her Project Came Together This Year: Take one backyard, one long night, several giggly girls with sleeping bags and the movie, "Rio." Mix in a tent, some birthday cake and big bins for donations of money and supplies. After one night of fun Bella raised $500 in cash donations plus several pet friendly supplies for her chosen charities.
Special Summer Highlight: Bella and her mother visited Australia this past summer. While there, they enjoyed spending time with the animals at Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s Zoo. For true animal lovers, I couldn’t imagine a better place on earth
