Good news today for Spring Hill Real Estate Market and employment
As a prior employee of an automobile company and an engineer involved in working with many automotive vendors I can honestly say that I have never been partial to the UAW. I thought that is slowed progress and allowed for automobile prices to escalate in the 90's, However, now I am reading in The Tennessean
today that the UAW union may have just had a big hand in improving the forecast for the Spring Hill Employment and thus the Spring Hill
and surrounding cities real estate market. The Spring Hill Assembly plant was closed partially and became an engine assembly plant but the big hit was that about 2000 workers were laid off and many of them have been idle waiting to get back to work. Some of the workers knew that they could not survive on the lay off and there was not enough jobs locally so they relocated to other cities where GM had plants. Those that have waited it out are hopeful that this proposal is agreed upon and that means that next year about 600 people can get back to work in 2012 and another 1100 in 2013 as the plant ramps back to two vehicles being assembled in Spring Hill for GM.

The next trigger date is next week when Union Officials vote on this proposal that should put about 6000 workers in this country back to work even though some will sacrifice their future raises and the bulk of thes jobs will be entry level at about $15 an hour.

So I never thought I would say that I am on the side of the UAW, but in this case I am for putting workers back to work and I can see how they are working with GM to help do just that.
