Recently we have had a great deal of trouble with things like cars getting broken into, speeding, and graffiti. In response to this we are in the process of developing a community watch program. The Community Watch Program is open to all residents of Maricopa, homeowners and renters. Our focus is to deter criminal activity and to make our city a safer place to live. We meet monthly on the second Tuesday of the month on the Patio at The Duke at 7pm – 8pm. We are under the guidance of Sergeant Koozer of the Maricopa Police Department. For further information regarding meetings, please call 520-494-7610 or e-mail cowgirlup0465@q.com.
We are hoping to grow this group into all neighborhoods within the city of Maricopa so that we can keep the area as a safe place for people of all ages. If we all work together then we can keep our communities much safer and keep crime at a minimal level. One thing that we need to keep in mind is that crime prevention starts with us. We need to do things like keeping our car doors locked as well as to keep the doors to our homes locked at night and when we are not at home. Also, don't leave valuables where that they can be easily seen and stolen. If we do these simple things along with establishing a strong community watch program then I think we can go a long ways toward establishing a crime free community.
