Amusement Today, recently announced the winners of its prestigious 2011 Golden Ticket Awards, which are presented to the “Best of the Best” in the amusement industry.

                         Roller Coaster

Congratulations go, again, to Cedar Point for being voted the Best Amusement Park in the World for the 14th straight year.

The Golden Ticket is the most sought-after award in the Golden Ticketbusiness of amusements and attractions.

According to Amusement Today, the results are calculated from an international poll and are the result of a detailed survey that is sent to a database of experienced and well-traveled amusement park fans around the world.  They are asked the rate the “bests” in 25 categories such as “amusement parks,” “roller coasters,” “food,” “Halloween and Christmas events” and “water rides.”  You can see the complete list of winners here.

Additionally, Dick Kinzel, President and CEO of Cedar Fair, L.P. of Sandusky, OH is the first living recipient to be named an honoree of the Legends Series, which pays tribute to an amusement legend who has impacted the industry in a unique way.  He was recognized for his vision, dedication and commitment to the park and the industry.

ADDITIONALLY…Millenium Force was named the BEST Steel Roller Coaster for the second year in a row.

                           Ferris Wheel

So proud of our Cedar Point.  Thank you Mr. Kinzel

Mary - Best in the world...?!?!  That is FANTASTIC!  I grew up in Columbus so we'd alternate parks each summer - Cedar Point and King's Island. "The Beast" in KI is still my favorite wooden coaster!

Sharon,  I have never been on The Beast, but I know about it's reputation.  I like the steel coasters better because they are a smoother ride.  At one time, I couldn't get enough of the coasters.  Now, once every couple years is enough for me

I love the blog.  As an experienced family having hit more than a dozen of the top East Coast parks and a sprinkling of others in the US, we would all agree to a vote for the ride "Bizarro" as being the best rollar coaster made to date.  We've been on many of the best, and this Bizarro is much different - and far better - than the ride at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey of the same name.    They describe the ride as 'surreal' and it surely is.  Your body feels the ride for a day or two after you've been on it, and it is literally the only ride I've ever still been happy with after a two hour wait.

OK - I just looked and found some agreement - it was voted the best steel rollercoaster for 5 years according to their website.  It's fun and the only coaster I've been on where the ride doesn't seem to be too short.

David,  That must be some ride!  I'm not sure I want to "feel" it for a day or two, but I love a good temporary rush.  I'll have to check out this great ride "Bizzaro".  Where is it?

It is at Six Flags - New England - about 1,000 feet north of the CT/MASS border.  I cannot think of the town as we were there after my kids soccer tournament in CT.  It was an evening I felt like skipping, and a line I'd normally avoid, but a ride I'll never forget.

Go to google and type in "Six Flags New England" and their site comes up first.  It's fun, though now I see in your post you've got a darn good one as well.

We might have to alter a trip next summer to make it to Cedar Point.

David, I'll check out that website.  Let me know if you and your family decide to make the trip to Ohio sometime
