This Sunday morning I enjoyed a Picnik with Kristine Ginsberg and Gayle Rich Boxman. Kristine and Gayle are two women who inspire me. They are great photographers and both share their knowledge and tips with a generous heart.
One of their favorite places to play is in Picnik. It's a free photo editing program that can help ho-hum photographers, such as myself, appear better. Yes, I said free. Although, for $24.95 a year, you can upgrade and get additional features.
So far, I think there are enough free features to keep me busy. This morning's editing effort in Picnik really showcases the profound difference a bit of tweaking can make to a photograph. I was giddy with the possibilities.
As I played in Picnik today, Kristine and Gayle were with me only in mind and spirit. However, I couldn't help but ask myself, "What would Gayle or Kristine do?" So ladies, it's with a great big thank you that I present my three before and after photos.
I sure hope you approve. Here's Ho hum Tomato photo before.
Here's an interesting tomato photo after a few minutes in Picnik.
Ho hum basket of flowers before Picnik.
Basket of Gold after a few minutes in Picnik.
Ho hum Hydrangea photo before Picnik.
Creamy Hydrangea photo after a few minutes in Picnik.
Most of these were edited using the Matte, Drop Shadow, and Museum Matte features. They were also slightly color enhanced, and on the Hydrangea photo, I used the Waterfall feature. They are all free tools.
Thanks again Kristine and Gayle for the inspiration and for sharing - those are two of the best qualities that represent the spirit of Active Rain.
