A Dahlia For You  9/26/11

Dolores and I attended the 2011 Dahlia Show, sponsored by the National Capital Dahlia Society, at Brookside Gardens over the weekend. It was an outstanding show and the dahlias were beautiful.  You do not need to be a gardener or flower expert to enjoy these shows.  Take your camera and just enjoy the beauty as you capture the light, colors and shapes with photographs.  Brookside Gardens, located in the Wheaton Regional Park, is a wonderful resource in Montgomery County.  Visit the website for the scheduled activities, displays and shows.  www.BrooksideGardens.org

Dahlias are blooming in Maryland this week and many of us are delighted to see the beautiful blooms in our gardens.  Please share photographs from your special places in the comments for this post.

Roy - the colors in that Dhalia are just gorgeous! I finally unpacked my camera after moving and can't wait to get out and find some flowers to shoot!

Roy, dahlias are some of my favorite flowers EVER. The one in your blog almost didn't look real it was so perfectly shot. I used to go to a dahlia farm where they let you pick your own and you could get a whole lot for very little money. I went CRAZY!!!

I've tried to grow Dahlias many times in Northern and Southern climates but I was never successful. It's a beautiful flower that commands respect. The petals are a star burst of brilliant colors! Some day, I would love to attend a Dahlias Show; for now, I'll settle for your lovely post. Thank you!
