Electric Cars In Lancaster, PA

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Elite RM423455

I previously wrote about Brandon Hollinger building electric cars in Lancaster, PA. He has been doing this for several years with little background or mechanical skills. He is a musician who has played frequently at the American Music Theater. However, he became interested in the electric car and the rest is history, so to speak.

Brandon was in a contest sponsored by EVTV for the opportunity to receive $20,000 in electric car parts. Some of you voted for Brandon and I am thanking you here publicly. Brandon won the competition.

Electric Cars in Lancaster, PA

One of the amazing factors in Brandon's victory was the power of social media. Many of my friends posted about this contest on Facebook and invited their friends to vote for Brandon. You can see that Brandon had 1000 votes. When the competition results were no longer public, Brandon was actually a few votes behing the fellow who received 519 votes.

Thanks to you who voted, there will be another electric car in Lancaster, PA.

Very cool.  I saw an interview today on CNBC with the CEO of Nissan (talking about the Leaf, among other things).  The key to reaching critical mass with electric cars, i believe, is two-fold:  (1) bring down the price point enough so that the fuel savings are not wiped out by the higher purchase costs; and (2) extend the distance you can travel on a charge.

Have a great day, Eric ^0-0^

Thanks Eric. An interesting point is how often do you travel more than 100 miles in a day? It is a psychological thing, but I realize I rarely travel that much in one day. But I do agree that the mileage will need to increase to get most folks to consider it.

Thanks Jeremy.

Electric cars "make sense", if the cost of electricity is affordable. CA power is expensive..... and when will new home construction start  including an outlet that is connected to a solar panel or windspire? I am

Teri, I guess the key factor is the range for electric cars. They are currently 80-100 miles and psycologically this is a problem for folks. When the technology gets it closer to 300 miles, we may see a major shift in people's habits and buying patterns. This will then impact new build jobs. However, installing the electric needed is pretty minimal.
