Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, Morrison, Colorado

Just west of Denver in the town of Morrison Colorado you will see Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.  This is a gorgeous sight with the huge red rocks jetting out of the earth.

red rocks

In 1941, the City and County of Denver opened the amphitheatre which is a geological phenomenon. This is the only geologically formed, open-air amphitheatre in the world.

red rocks

Gradual earth movement caused the sandstone ledges to rise from the prehistoric ocean floor.  It truly is a site to see.  At an altitude of 6,450 ft. you can see downtown Denver in the distance.

Red Rocks is located at 17598 W. Alameda Parkway in Morrison, Colorado.

Belinda, These are some gorgeous photos for Red Rocks Park in Denver area. That Open Amphitheatre has a great view, and I see the historical value too.

Nice Featured Post too!

Agree with all what a venue for a concert. I missed an opportunity to see U@ there in 1982/83 dont remember which year it was but wow my friend offered me a ticket and I said U2 thats a stupid name and passed???? :( my loss.

Anyway many a great time and many a great numbers of concerts later by far my favorite venue of all time!

Hi Belinda.  Put me on the list of people that would love to see a show there too.  I have heard about Red Rocks and have seen it on TV but not in person - YET.  Thanks for sharing.

Kristi,  You are right.  I remember lots of years when the weather didn't cooperate with those going to Easter sunrise services there.

Jim,  Maybe it is time for a trip to Colorado.  I know California has lots to offer, but maybe you need a new altitude vacation spot.

I remember this place! When I was little 6 or 7 years old we lived in Colorado and my dad and mom took us here...this is the place that I wanted to climb the rocks and they would not let me! I could have done it too!
