Type free text messages from your PC

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Being one who has never been good at the all thumbs entry for text messages I longed for a better way. If you are like me and can type faster from your PC and like the bigger keyboard here's your solution:

Just enter the cell phone number followed by the domain as the example shows 2145551212@teleflip.com

Enter a subject line and type a brief message. The message will be sent to the phone. It's free to the sender but the recipient will be charged for the text message according to his plan.

If a buyer that a realtor is working with is meeting them at a property and calls for the address while driving, just message his cell phone and he'll have the address record right in his hand and it's safer than writing while driving.

A nifty idea that's very easy to do.

That is a pretty cool tip.  Can the person on the phone text back to your emaiL?

Nancy, I think this service is a PC text to phone service. Ordinary texting is phone to phone. To do phone to PC I believe you would need a PDA/phone combo like a Blackberry that already takes in full email. Then essentiallly you are doing email to email, and not texting.

Thanks Gary.  That's what I thought, too, but needed to ask as I was not totally sure.

Nancy, I double checked on the Teleflip web site and if you set the service up to receive emails form Senders you approve you can read in blocks of 120 character inbound emails. So if you know Bob and you text him from your PC to his phone he can hit reply back to you and his text will appear in your PC's email. But you have to set it up ahead of time defining the email addresses. For impromptu stuff, the basic messaging is what you would use. Teleflip is like light version of  email on the Blackberry or Treo. Similar services are from Google and Yahoo but they have limitations like they can't work on Verizon.

Gary - I have regular cell service with Alltel and I don't have a Blackberry or Treo.  I can text a PC or another phone - I can also send photos from my phone.  All you need is a phone that is compatible with a text program.  One point - I can only send photos via phone to phone if the receiving phone is a camera phone.

I will try to keep this in mind.  I normally call the agent to make sure they are coming before I set my way into to motion.

This is sweet information because it's always easier to text on the computer if you don't have a "Smart Phone" with a keyboard... thanks for the insight

That's cool - if you want to send to a verizon phone it would be 10digit#@verizon.net

Though I could turn this into a rant about someone getting charged to receive text messages...

The Teleflip messaging service works on all the carrier phone networks (my understanding) so you wouldn't have to know which carrier they have. Yes, let's not rant about costs on the phone company side.

Gary, thanks for sharing. I am trying to text more. I have enough call that I can not get other work done in a normal day. Anything to free up time.

I think with this new tip I'll surprise them today with a text message. They'll think I'm so smart, and how did I figure that out. Try it with your friends and clients too.

This is great information.  I have been doing it and it does work.  I thought I had a tool on aol that let me set it up but I don't remember if I had to do that first.  TMOBILE = 10digits@tmob.net
