Where is this Tortoise, what city and country does this statue stand in?

As I said previously, to get your brain revved up for the new school yearparent, teachers and students a like, that I thought it would be fun if started a back to school series about famous landmarks located both here in North Texas as well as places around the country and the world where I have visited.  In most cases, these landmarks will be statues of some kind or what would qualify as a statue.  I will keep posting as I said until I run out of pictures to post, so come back often with your guesses and please provide as much information in your comment as possible, lets make this a history lesson each and every time.  That way we will all learn more about the communities around us.

So now to this weeks post in my back to school series:  Obviously, this statue is a tortoise or turtle, depending on who you speak to.   Can anyone tell me what city, state, country or province  this statue is located in and also exactly where in that city that this statue is located, meaning it sits outside (the name of what building) ?

Please provide as much information in your comment post as possible.  Good luck. And hop on over to our Statues  of the World Group and join in on the fun.

John - I don't know but it's a really cool statue. I like your Back to School Series and I'm sure if I lived in North Texas, I'd have a chance of getting one right, but living in NJ it ain't gonna happen, lol. I'll just check in and see the interesting statues in your area!

Hi Steve, it is a cool looking turtle or tortoise isn't it, thanks for stopping by

Hi Teral, pretty funny there, the hare and the tortoise!

Hi Kristine, come on now girl, give it a guess, I appreciate you checking out my back to school series, and just future reference, not all my statues are from this area, see the last few post, Boston, Victoria.  Never know where they may be from.   Thanks again for your input, love it and loved your recent black and white picture post.

John - Oh what fun - love this statue.  I'm going to guess that it's a green turtle statue in Sandakan, Borneo!  Am I right? - am I?!!!!

Hi Sally, Sorry, never been to Borneo or Malaysia, and not sure if it is a green turtle, I think it might be a tortoise, but hey, tomato, tamato, right....

Okay, I have to confess...I have been lurking, as I am just completely stumped with this one!!  I have tried taking the short cut & looking at your keys.... I can only come up with may be a location in "Turtle Creek" within the DFW area??

He is BEAUTIFUL...I would love to have him :)!  Okay, when do we get to 'give' on this one???

Hi Pam, now what keys would you be talking about?  And with no pun intended, but it is not "Turtle Creek".  The Turtle Creek area is just north outside of the Downtown Dallas area, east of the American Airlines Center. Although it would be an appropriate place to have it placed.

I was waiting for VB to give it a shot, that way I know most of the people in the Statues group have probably taken a crack at it by then.  Although I will have to say we have some slackers, it seems we have more people outside the group guessing than inside it lately.  Will give it a few more days.

Hi John - I've been looking at Google images of silver tortoises until my eyeballs bled, but no luck at all. I'm stumped and looking forward to your answer.

Well everyone, there were some interesting guesses, but none correct.  Borneo, that was a good one Sally.  The Answer is, this Metallic Tortoise is located outside of the children's area side entrance to the Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History. It sits outside the school entrance to the Childrens Science Museum Wing.

Like you did Dick, I tried as well to find a picture of it online, and to my amazement, it looks like the only picture of it online is the one from my post......trust me when I tell you that it is there.  Thanks for the Guesses and stay tuned, more statue pics are on their way.

John - Hey, what can I say?  I was desperate, and Borneo seemed as good a guess as any.  They also have a very attractive turtle statue there - perhaps a long distance cousin to this shiny Fort Worth creature.
