Cut and Color Genius? You Decide!
I put a post on facebook the other day "Help! I need a color specialist in Catonsville (or nearby) who can give me a haircut/color that will work for me....so done with the blond!!"
The first response was from a friend saying that her Aunt owns Perfect Touch. And later: "My aunt's name is Carol. I don't know her specific hours, but i'm told that everyone there is fantastic.
Another saying "I love Perfect Touch on Frederick Road. Cara Platter is a color/cut genius! Good luck."
And another "I second Amy's comment. I also love Cara !!"
Gotta love social media. 3 friends that all recommended a salon...Asked and answered. My appointment was today. Here is how I walked in....Now to be fair, it's been too long for a cut and color, too long since the eyebrows were done, and I took this picture myself...Still, none too flattering. (And I promise, despite how it looks, I was not drinking before taking this picture!)
This salon can't be easier to get to, right off 695 at Frederick Road. I parked out front and walked right in.
I was greeted with a smile and a welcome by Heather Whipps, Salon Coordinator. I was later told that Heather is the life blood of the salon. She is responsible for scheduling appointments and keeping everything going.
Just minutes later Cara Platter came out, introduced herself and led me to her station for a consultation. This was one of the most thorough consultations I have ever had. We talked about what I was looking for and she made suggestions. She asked me what I didn't want and what was important to me. She brought out hair samples and explained the process. I knew I was in great hands!
Salon assistant and shampoo girl extrordinare Kelsey introduced herself, welcomed me to the salon and prepped me with a towel and cape. She told me that I would be really happy with Cara and that she would see me when it was time for my shampoo.
The salon was lively, several clients getting cuts and color. It is clean and organized, and by the looks of things, the staff really likes what they do and working at Pefect Touch. There is plenty of product for sale, but I never felt pressured into buying any of it. I am quite sure that they can recommend whatever you need! They are a Redken Salon.
While she was working on my color, Cara was consulted on color options by another stylist. She told me that they all work together to get the best results for the client. As my hair was being colored I found out that Cara has been at the salon since she was 15, starting as a shampoo girl and working her way up, apprenticing under the owner for 2 years. She obviously loves what she does, and considers herself an artist. She thinks of her clients as her canvas. She told me that they have a lot of continuing education to keep up on new products and techniques. We talked about life and changes. I felt very comfortable, as if we had known each other for years, not just minutes.
Soon enough, I was placed under a dryer for about 15-20 minutes, and offered coffee, tea or water.
I looked around a bit and found that they have an esthitician on staff who does nails and skin care. Meet Irina Shor. I didn't have time to check out her services today, but I will in the near future.
They offer hair cuts, chemical treatments, brazilian blowouts, manicures, pedicures, massage, waxing, skin care and more. For a list of all of their services and pricing, check out their website.
After Cara checked and was satisfied with the color, Kelsey led me to the shampoo sinks. That is one of my favorite parts of a salon experience. This was no exception. I don't think I have ever had such a wonderful shampoo. The wash was thorough, the temperature and comfort level checked and re-checked, every part of my scalp was massaged expertly. She's got skills!! Relaxed and feeling good, I was sad when it was done, but I couldn't wait to see the results of the color!
Before we could head back to Cara's station, she waxed my brows. Cara took special care to make sure it was right and that I was satisfied. Who needs a facelift when a fraction of the price and of the pain can make such a huge difference.
Back in the chair, the color emerged, my hair was cut and styled with the practiced hand of an expert. By the time my appointment was done, I felt like a new woman. I wanted something that would be easy to manage and something that would make me feel great...Cara nailed it! It is way different than I would have described, but I think it suits me. I am already wondering what the artist will do next time!
Sydney's first comment to me when I picked her up this afternoon was "Wow, Mama, you look different. You are beautiful". My husband? Yep, he loves it too.
If you are looking for a new look, or some pampering, you won't go wrong at Pefect Touch. A little shop near Baltimore, in Catonsville, just off 695 at Frederick Road. You will be greeted with a smile and every touch will be truly perfect!
