I'm still waiting for temperatures to cool down (under 100 would be fine) so I can once again feel a golf club in my hand, the wind in my hair on the fairway, and the sweet sound of my ball falling into the cup. Ah, memories! If I'm lucky I can hit some balls this weekend at Lost Creek Country Club and get my swing back. I'll get warmed up on Wednesday at the all-day happy hour, eat Prime Rib on Thursday night for some protein and be ready to kick it on Saturday. Or...
I could go to the beautiful Avery Ranch course and get used to the greens there and prepare for their upcoming first annual Doc Avery Halloween Tournament, benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank. Then, I should be ready for the Thanksgiving Charity Golf Tournament benefiting Austin area firefighters and other charities. Now that will be a tournament worth seeing, I mean playing! This Avery Ranch course is absolutely beautiful and it's a pleasure anytime I can walk those fairways and appreciate the Texas Hill Country landscape. There are always wonderful tournaments at this course so you will never get bored.
Living in a golf community in Austin is a unique experience. They are all beautiful, offering different personalities, locations and price-points. If you want the scoop on golf course living, just give me a call. I can't think of anything better I'd rather talk about.
Here are a few of my favorite golf quotes:
After Nick Faldo won a million-dollar tournament he asked his wife what she wanted and she said a divorce. Nick said "I wasn't thinking of anything that expensive."
President Clinton when he shot his first 79..."I was hot, I was smoking 'em. Even a blind pig finds an acorn sometimes."
Dean Martin..."my golf game wasn't much, but then, have you heard Nicklaus and Palmer sing."
Hit 'em straight everyone but most of all, have a good time and think of me over here in Austin, waiting, waiting.....
