What is STOMP?

While waiting for my dentist to come into my exam room yesterday, I was gazing out the window and noticed a simple in big bold letters across the street - STOMP.  When he came in I had to ask- What is STOMP?  He explained that "they are a group of musicians that play music with items other than musical instruments".  Of course my curiosity got me there!

Come to find out they started in the UK in 1991 and have since played all over the world. On their official website I found a list of some of the items they use:
Brooms, Lids, Blocks of Athlete's Chalk, Litres of Water, Bananas, Boxes of Matches, Buckets, Poles, Pounds of San.

They will be playing in Folsom at the Three Stages Theater at Folsom Lake College on October 7-9.

Here's a little clip of Pail Drummers.

I saw them with my daughter in Greenwich Village several years back.  It was incredible!!  I highly recommend it.  I wanted her to see it as she loves the arts & I felt it would be (& was) an inspiration to her to see all of these young people making this entertaining music from basically nothing.  It truly 'coined' the expression making something out of nothing.  I hope you are going.  I don't feel you will regret it at all!!  We went to the last show which didn't start until 10pm, but that was all I could get tickets for when we landed.  It was way past my daughter's bed time @14, but she managed to stay up & so did I ;-)!  It was so well worth it.  I hope all enjoy...  I think it is positive influence of what creativity can be accomplished with the simplest of life.

We had the chance to see Stomp in Las Vegas - such a fun time. If you get the chance, bring the kids - they will love it!

I've seen videos but never had a chance to see Stomp in person. I think my kids would love it.
