Bye, Bye, Active Rain Cookbook and all the rest of the Recipe Groups.

By
Real Estate Agent with Sabinske & Associates, Inc. (Albertville, St. Michael)

As an Ambassador, I didn't realize that I was not within the guidelines by posting recipes here on the Rain.

I have thought about this for quite sometime, and finally decided that perhaps not all of you are aware, whether Ambassadors or not, that you cannot post jokes or recipes as posts on Active Rain.  See here.

I have been guilty of posting plenty of recipes before becoming an Ambassador, and I am not taking those posts down now, not only because they are good, but because plenty of people commented who would lose "points".

So, if you want to bend the rules, you might include recipes or jokes as a backdrop for another more important topic.

I just wonder what happens to the the groups who have been allowed to operate for all these years, including the ActiveRain Cookbook?

Will they just have to fade away?

Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Those groups are fun and they help make the community. Better to bend the rules and enjoy ourselves than be too literal. Maybe we should change the rules instead - if we start down this path, the day will come when only market reports will be acceptable, and then we'll be just like those other boring blog sites.

Suzzane I am with Dick, Cooking Drinking are all being part of Real Estate, This was one of the benefits of being on AR Freedom to write, no censorship...well I am not happy about this just in case you might want to pass it on to the powers to be......

Dick and Endre, I didn't think this was serious until I read the guidelines.  I am going to investigate further.  The reason this was brought up was for another reason altogether, and AR has allowed these sites to exist, along with Friday Funnies, etc.  So, I don't believe that they want everyone to post jokes or recipes, but, on the ohter hand, I don't believe that they want members to just post those as posts either.

Well I might be bending the rules.  I love the recipes and the jokes.  It really is nice to take a break sometimes.  It is also nice to see the lighter side of life even in the Rain.

I could see jokes, but recipes?  I think we all love them and it is nice to exchange them.  So they can't be posted at all by ambassador's?

Actually, recipes and jokes are not to be posted by anyone if you read the Guidelines.  I can see why, but.

Ok, so lets keep the jokes, recipes, wordless days, and just post them but no points, I agree with Mary these groups keep AR fun. Many times I have started with someones joke or recipe and ten gone on to their blogand learned alot., so they serve as a way to get you to other ideas you might not see else ware.

Great idea, Brenda.  I am with you on this one.  Post them for no points.  Perhaps, someone will see this and go for it!
