Elmira Heights, New York: A Real Estate Listing Before Computers...

Mortgage and Lending with SUNSTREET MORTGAGE, LLC (BK-0907366, NMLS 145171) NMLS 223495

1972 Listing: Mike in Tucson, AZ mortgage lender

~ Before Computers & Smart Phones ~

The funny thing about this listing?  I found it easier to read than the MLS form presently used by the Tucson Association of REALTORS.  Seriously!  Read the description of the bedrooms and see if you don't agree.

When it comes to getting ahold of the 'salesman' there's just a single phone number.  And notice what's missing~it's a wonder anyone made a living back then...  :)

  • No area code
  • No fax number
  • No mobile number
  • No toll-free number
  • No extension
  • No pager number
  • No email address
  • No website
  • No video
  • ...and just one photo!

I'll bet when you called the 733-9191, a real person answered the phone!  Ah for the days when life was simpler...

EDIT:  The taxes are as of 1971, so I'm thinking this must be 1972.

I miss those days too.  I really do.  I adapt and change because i have to, not because I wanted to.  BTW- saw a beautiful sunset Monday as I drove through your part of the world.

What's missing, other than an area code??

How about a co-op??

I love that "Mortgage balance - NONE"

This is priceless but there's no date on it.

In my first office, we had listings on 5x8 cards with no photos.  GEEZ!

Mike, those days were so different- I like that it states"NO SUNDAY SHOWING" you don't find much of that these days.

Boy ... Brings back memories, I sure remember those days!  We used to keep one Polaroid camera in the office to take a black and white picture to send in with hand typed listing card that we dropped off or mailed to the MLS office!

"Back in the day" ... and then there was also the microfiche and the HUUUGGEE listing books that got published every week and agents lugged about in the trunk of their car and agents who did not buy them would steal them from the agents who bought them --- had mine stolen many times. And there was the "office camera" for the one single photo that was taken. What fun we all had! All the best.

The office camera...  Too funny!

...and buyers didn't have to be 'prequal'd' either!

Have you ever had a listing with No Sunday Showing?

See Carolin Benjamin's comment #9 re people stealing the book!

It is, and it's only about 5x7!

Since the Tax line says 1971, I'm thinking this must be 1972.

I don't know...

Mike - I especially like the "no Sunday showings" - try to do that these days! It IS so much easier to read than our MLS sheets now too.

The NO SUNDAY SHOWING made me smile too.  It IS easier to read, isn't it?

Now that is pretty cool and gives all of us new appreciation for the age of technology! I hate doing Sunday showings and rarely do them! Sunday is supposed to be family day in my book!

All this great history you're coming up with... no square footage and that seems like a hefty amount for taxes, but I knew some people from NY and NJ in the 70's, they said the property tax rate was very high.

When I moved from a 50 year old house in New Jersey to a brand new house next to Tucson Mountain Park in Arizona, my property taxes went down by $5,000 annually!

Good for you!
