Ghost Walk and History Tour The sixth annual Camp Helen State Park Ghost Walk and History Tour will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at 23937 Panama City Beach Parkway (U.S. 98) near the Walton/Bay County line. Lucky Mudd will provide musical entertainment. Guides will lead groups to the various storytellers located around the park. Costumes are encouraged and flashlights are recommended. Duck Regatta Adopt a rubber duck and join in a day of family fun at the inaugural Emerald Coast Duck Regatta benefiting the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild beginning at 11 a.m. Oct. 8. Approximately 1,000 ducks will race across the Lagoon at the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort at 1 p.m. The event will have fun activities for the whole family, including face painters and a scavenger hunt. Make a donation of $10 or more to the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild to adopt a duck. Plant show The Potted Plant Show, sponsored by the Walton County Master Gardeners, will be held at the Walton Fair from Oct. 10-15. Plants that may be entered for judging are African violets, flowering, foliage, hanging containers, cactus and succulents, ferns and a mixture of plants in the same pot will fall into the miscellaneous class. Two plants in each class will be accepted per person. Exhibitors must have possession of the plant for a minimum of three months. All citizens of Walton County are invited to enter their plants in the show. Plants will be judged on their merit with prizes awarded in each class. NWFSC Prime Time Personal Enrichment Classes Registration for the PRIME Time series of personal enrichment classes offered by Northwest Florida State College in Fall term is now in progress at all seven NWFSC locations. More than 40 courses are offered on the Niceville campus and 16 courses are offered in South Walton and Destin. Two fitness courses are offered at the college’s location in DeFuniak Springs. Jewels of 30A South Walton Community Council & The Hidden Lantern Gallery will host “Jewels of 30A”, a juried art show inspired by Coastal Dune Lakes, as part of 10th Annual Back to Nature Festival through Oct. 29. The exhibit is free and open to the public during normal business hours. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the South Walton Community Council. Topsail tours Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach will hold the following tours. A $6 park entrance fee is required, except for Breakfast with a Ranger. Best of the Emerald Coast The Best of the Emerald Coast ceremony will be held from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 15 along the boulevard of the Town Center in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.
