Ample Harvest - Do You Have Extra Vegetables To Share??

By
Real Estate Agent with SHAHAR Management

Fighting Hunger is a world wide effort.  The AmpleHarvest.org Campaign is a multifunctional organization that allows local gardeners to donate their surplus whether large or small which is then routed to local Food Pantries.  If you are a family with a garden and you wind up with too many tomatoes for example rather than letting them go bad or throwing them out you can help curb hunger by donating them.

If you are a Food Pantry and you register, any local surplus that comes in to AmpleHarvest.org will be sent the Food Pantry's way.  This is spread across all 50 states and is helping diminish hunger in America.

An estimated 100 billion pounds of food is thrown away annually in the United States.  IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY.  You can help!

There are flyers on the site that you can print to give to your local food pantries to get them to sign up so they can have food surplus coming their way.

Debra, this sounds like a fantastic organization. 100 billion pounds of food squandered while there are hungry people in America. Wow, this will certainly help once the word gets out. Fantastic post, people need to know this.

Debbie, what a great idea this is...I would think that in agricultural communites there would much that could be donated.  I never heard of this program before and I'm sure there are lots of other people who haven't either...great job getting the word out.

Debbie, your graphic reminds me of veggie tales. Our church has a similar program to help the needy families. They are so many people are in need.  Take care and stay healthy.

Debra, we give so much to people all over the world, it is a shame that we have people who are hungry in our own back yard. What a great organization and cause.

Debbie that is a great idea.  I know that my neighbors that have gardens are always looking for people to give some of their veggies to, and giving them to a Food Pantry makes perfect sense.
