It's been a few months that I've been here on Active Rain and I realized that I haven't properly introduced myself! How rude!
Hi! My name is Amanda. I'm a vivacious agent who has lived in Northern Kentucky since I was 10 years old. I love living here and wouldn't trade it for anything!
My husband and I were high school sweethearts, and we have one son who is just starting his toddler years. All of you parents out there will understand exactly what I mean by this!

I went to Simon Kenton High School right here in Independence and graduated in the early 2000s. I was a fairly shy high schooler who loved colorguard/winterguard and marching band. I also sang in my church, St. Patrick's, choir from middle school until the end of college. I graduated with an honors diploma and a work ethic diploma, and I was a Kentucky Governo's Scholar during the summer between my junior and senior year with an emphasis in Russian.
After high school, I attended Centre College in Danville, KY. I absolutely loved (and still love) my alma mater. While there, I learned to come out of my shell and really introduce my desire to help people into my life. I received a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature with a Kentucky P-12 teaching certificate, but I also took a few technical theatre classes and participated in many clubs, activities, and part-time jobs both on and off campus.
I am an alumna member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. My experience was amazing - I met so many intelligent, influential women who taught me how to love others more than myself. ADPi also started me on my long-term volunteer committment with Ronald McDonald House, continuing far past the small committment made during my college years.

After college, I became a French teacher at a Northern Kentucky high school. I taught for three years while getting my Master of Arts in Education from Northern Kentucky University. While I loved the kids and loved French, teaching in that capacity just wasn't for me. One thing I really enjoyed was leading National Honor Society, where I oversaw over 100 members each year and helped accumulate over 12,000 community service hours over three years! And of course, we did as much as we could for my favorite charity, Ronald McDonald House, by saving 700 pounds of poptabs (filled my car twice!), making birthday boxes for an instant birthday party, and serving a few meals on the weekends, including Thanksgiving dinner (where I cooked 12 turkeys ahead of time).
When my job was reduced to half-time due to budget constraints, I jumped at the chance to change to a career that I felt suited me much better - real estate! I've always been fascinated with real estate - I even have a personal blog where I've talked about architectural elements and decorating for three years! I've been helping people make great housing decisions since April, and even though it has ups and downs, I absolutely LOVE my job. I can't wait to keep helping people!
