Candyland Finally Sold - Bath Water Included

Candy Spelling the widow of Gazillionaire Aaron Spelling has been trying to sell her little digs for the past two years.

56,500 sq feet with a little attic containing 17,000 square feet.  Pick a bedroom there
are 14, if you can find them within the other 123 rooms and 27 bathrooms. 


Parking for 100 vehicles, gift wrapping rooms, beauty salon, bowling alley and of course the ever necessary flower cutting room.

Candy has been trying to unload this monster for $150 million.  She finally accepted a fire sale price of $85 million cash. That's a 43% discount.  She will be moving to a modest 15,000 square foot condo.  How's a poor girl gonna downsize?

So you think you are in a rough reall estate market? Even the Celebs are taking a bath when selling their homes.  Do I feel bad for Candy?  Hell no!

Bonnie,

That's a lot of house to dust and clean.

While in college at UCLA I delivered "French Dry Cleaning" to customers in Beverly Hills and Brentwood.  Mr. Spelling's former residence in Beverly Hills was on my route.  I only met the servants and the attack-trained German Shepard, never the Spellings.  This was 1971-72.  It was an interesting college job for me.

Lloyd,  That must have been a really interesting job.  If you went to the new Spelling house you would have probably needed a road map to find the back door.

Can you imagine how many home inspectors would be needed on this one? Wow! Not sure how she will survive in a condo that is smaller than her old Attic space :)

David and Bonnie - yikes I never thought about that.  Might need a whole team of inspectors.  15,000 square feet itself is obscene too.  I cannot fathom what I would do with all that space.

Bonnie, what a bargain. LOL I wonder how many servants (is that pc?) Candy had and the new happy homeowners will probably rehab the house to suit their needs.

Nick,  Imagine what you could do with that money rather than sink it in a house.  Hard to fathom how rich Aaron Spelling was.
