Duh! It's National Sarcastics Awareness Month

Duh! It's National Sarcastics Awareness MonthAs you may well be aware of (and totally supporting, might I add), it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart since I have unfortunately lost loved ones to it but am also happy to say I have loved ones who have survived as well.  That's why we need to continue supporting this cause.

However, not to take away from that, October has been chosen to honor another cause near and dear to my heart.  Duh!  It's National Sarcastics Awareness Month.  Although no "Patient 0" has been found, Sarcasm can be found in prehistoric cave paintings in the Utah desert that depict a caveman coming home from a long day of mammoth hunting, looking around the messy cave and asking his wife what she does all day.  Her response?  "Sitting on the couch, eating bon-bons and watching Oprah!"  (Man, Oprah's been around forever.  No wonder she retired this year.)

I, for one, was diagnosed with Sarcasm in my teens.  Since there is no cure, I have been forced to try to manage this chronic disease through lifestyle changes and a healthy dose of vitamins.  However, sudden flair-ups may occur at any time.  In fact, one such flair-up occurred recently, when my husband rushed into the bathroom while I was taking a shower to ask "What are you doing?"  Before I could even think, my Sarcasm reared its ugly head as I replied "Taxes."  (Somehow, he believed I was having a party of sorts in the upstairs bathroom, splashing water thither and yon which caused a small leak to make its way into the downstairs bathroom.  Not the case.)  That's why I ask for your support for me and all my fellow Sarcasm sufferers.  Show sympathy for our plight, not disdain.  Thank you.

Thank you,

Were they the fat one and the skinny side-kick, or two of the three Marx brothers?

(as you can see, I'm afflicted as well).
