Catonsville in Baltimore County, Maryland  - "Life is Great in 21228!"

Catonsville- A GREAT place to call home!

There are two very distinct areas of Catonsville, Md, although both areas share the same zip code of 21228.

These areas have been referred to as "Upper Catonsville" and "Lower Catonsville".

"Upper Catonsville" is the area North of Rt 40 and of course  "Lower Catonsville" is South of Rt 40.

Woodlawn High School serves "Upper Catonsville" and Catonsville High School district covers "Lower Catonsville".
You may also hear residents refer to Catonsville as "The 'Ville"

See below for more schools served by each area!

Catonsville 200 years
There are many incredible large Historic
Victorian and Colonial homes located in Catonsville that were built by wealthy Baltimoreans. Originally, these communities were used as summer residences to escape the heat in Baltimore. Eventually, as in many communities with the introduction of the automobile and electric trolley, families began to reside in Catonsville year round.
Historic Homes of Catonsville
It's understandable why Catonsville is a very desirable area. A lot of residents move in and stay for a very long time. Many of my own neighbors have lived in the same area, some in the same house, for decades. The close proximity to Baltimore City, Washington DC, main highways, BWI airport, incredible research hospitals, BRAC, Amtrack, local Malls, the beach and the Mountains are just a few of the reasons people love to call Catonsville home.

BCPSSchools in Catonsville are a significant reason why families select this area to raise their children.

There are 4 Elementary Schools in "Lower Catonsville".

Westchester Elementary School

There is one Middle School : Catonsville Middle School.
The High School is Catonsville High School home of the Catonsville Comets.
There are also many Private Schools too in the area.

The amenities of "Lower Catonsville" are also plentiful:  Great Parks, Churches and Restaurants. Also Catonsville is known as "Music City" thanks to all of the music stores on the main High Street. The best kept secret however is the abundance of community spirit & friendly neighborhood charm that is part of living in a small town. Catonsville is a great place to walk and scores a favorable walk score.

Here are some yearly activities in the community are well supported and enjoyed by many residents.

Ellie:  I love Victorians!  I grew up in a very lovely Victorian home and it created my "love for houses and architecture"!  They are very unique and the pictures of yours look very nice and well kept!

Ellie:  Now... about a week ago I was reading about the history of Ellicott City, and Ellicott Mills, and clicked on a link to Catonsville.  What an incredibly interesting history the city has.  It, of course, goes back to colonial and pre-colonial days.  So many of the "characters" from the 1700's and 1800's were there.  I must have spend a few hours reading about it all.  Very, very interesting.

So nice to have a city that has an "interesting" history... at least to me... as opposed to what is called the "history" of The People's Republic of Texas.

Ellie... I'd love to, but I still have not gotten over the embarrassment of not being able to help you with Miss Jennifer... I think her name was.  Hope that all worked out for you, and them.
