The Real Excitement Is In Playing The Game.....Not Winning The Trophy!!

I just read a Members Only post written by Melissa Stahl and I do hope everyone will take the time to read it.  I won’t give a link since it’s to members only, but I’m sure you’ll find it.  It’s worth the read.

As I was reading the end of it, there was a statement from her associate asking if she always got excited over an accepted offer.  Let me preface this with the fact that I refer to my work status as semi-retired.  I do the marketing for my team, and the team members do the deals.  I haven’t listed or sold a property in 5 years, but thinking back, I certainly did get excited with every new transaction.

When the excitement is gone, working in the real estate business becomes a chore.  It’s job.  It’s not a new adventure every day.  It’s a pay check when and if your get one.  It’s not a day filled with new happenings and new information to learn and share, and without the right attitude, you probably will not receive many pay checks!!

I can remember my last listing.  I was as excited about that listing as I was about my very first, and the excitement was uncontrollable when I closed my first seller.  I laugh when I think about it.  Keep the excitement in your business every day, and when you look back decades from now, you’ll have a smile on your face too!!!

I am always excited when writing offers or getting offer accepted. I love showing homes and get super excited when I see a home I know will work for my clients. I met some clients at a house the other day so she could show her family.  We were both jumping up and down because everyone loved it!

I don't see how you can't be excited when working in this business.

SOLD or an OFFER is always exciting - these are the words we work for, I guess.

And for me, you are #1 - irrespective of your direct involvement in listing or sale. You have done miracles by bringing up your team to #1.

Barbara, sometimes I have to remind myself that selling real estate is fun......especially in this market.  It's those listings and contracts that still make this a great place to work.  I ran over and read Melissa's post.  Great!

Barbara,  Can't thank you enough for your encouragement! I got to do a Happy Dance again this afternoon when an agent called to let me know my sellers could expect an offer on their property.  I refuse to let this become mundane, old hat, whatever.  It is exciting to help clients meet their goals! Whether it's buying or selling!
