Cottages of Creston Offer Environmentally and Pocket Friendly Luxury Estate Homes
When the idea of this unique gated community arose with the developers John and Marilyn Nelson, the criteria list was not too long. That’s not to say it wasn’t significant though. They decided to provide residents with the option to live in beautiful mountain cottages, nestled in the hills of Black Mountain, here in North Carolina, yet without all the hoopla that comes with other, typical gated communities.
You will not find a golf course anywhere near this area, where half of the nearly 1200 acres is natural reserve that cannot be developed upon. In fact, the main attraction of this community is that it provides a responsible way to live luxuriously. However, there are plenty that you can travel to within a short distance
Mountain Chic
The nine cottages that are available each have the same basic stamp of mountain elegance, with touches of nature incorporated into the structure and architecture that supports the spectacular views that can be accessed from all angles of the homes.
Responsible Living
According to the developers, responsible living in this case is defined by both the affordability of these homes as well as the direct involvement of residents in all aspects of life in the community. This is possible because Creston is not laden with debt, traditionally found in gated communities that have yet to be fully inhabited. More control for the residents is a better way to go for all those involved.
The second reason these cottages are responsible is that over a half of the property cannot be further developed. This comes from a conservation easement from the Foothills Land Conservancy of North Carolina [http://www.foothillsconservancy.org/].
Unlike other homes in mountainous regions, all utility connections have been established underground, making it a far more convenient and environmentally friendly place to live.
Affordable Luxury
Once people have had a chance to soak in the 360-degree beauty of the area and its view out into the mountainous wilderness, it comes down to price. The developers of these cottages kept price and affordability in mind when designing and building these homes. Unlike typically sprawling residences with no less than four to five thousand square feet of living space, these cottages are quaint, cozy and attainable for many owners who would rather keep real estate expenses low due to the current economy or those who may not be able to afford anything larger, again – due to the economy.
With the Cottages at Creston starting at $299,000, living in one of these amazing properties is definitely well within the reach of many more people than had they been the $1 million and up homes that we typically see in this type of setting.
Cozy Cottage Elegance
The nine unique designs are named based on regional trees found in the area. Each has open outdoor living space in the form of terraces or porches, plus ample elements of natural beauty incorporated within the architecture. The focus is not to stand out within the mountain, rather to blend right in with the nature – and these developers have created the perfect marriage of both.
The views are spectacular, both from the various look-out points accessible on the way up to the summit – and from several places within each cottage. Outdoor landscaping was not a big focus with these homes rather the developers chose to rely on the surrounding natural beauty to provide a gorgeous backdrop for the community’s residents.
A beautiful community center is housed at the summit of this small mountain, providing residents with a forum through which they can entertain, relax, get away within their own get-away and more. There are hiking trails nearby and of course the 350-acre natural preserve with a host of natural features to enjoy.
Transportation to nearby hospitals is available through helipad, in case of emergencies. Also interesting about the property is that each designed cottage is named after the native trees that are unique to this area and region.
There are two major plus points in selecting this community as your next residence or second home property. First, given that the number of buildings is limited, we know with certainty that they will run out. With only 40 of the lots remaining from the 140 total community strength, it is clear these properties will sell well. Not only that, their potential to resell is also much higher than other, typical, single-family homes in the area – making them a solid investment.
