Elizabethville, PA Halloween Parade - Oct 20 7pm - Always Something Going On In Northern Dauphin County
The Elizabethville Volunteer Association is making final preparations for the 2011 Halloween parade. Each year the parade continues to grow and the planning committee has to make adjustments to improve the overall enjoyment for the residence of Elizabethville.
This year, there a few changes you need to note: The parade route and the location of the judge's stand will change. Registration will still be held at the Upper Dauphin High School parking lot which will also be the route start place.
The route will run south on Church St, turn left on Main St continue through the square and then turn left on N Collier, then turn left on E. Broad, passing over Market Street and continue down W. Broad Street. The judge's stand will be relocated to W. Broad St in front of the Patriot Building. The parade will conclude at Callowhill St. For ease of disbursement, the walkers will turn right onto Callowhill St and go to the High School while the floats will continue down W. Broad and turn right on Church St and then end at the High School.
This new parade route and relocation of the judge's stand will help to close up some of those gaps that seem to happen when performers stop at the judge's stand in the middle of the parade route when the stand was located on the square. The committee will encourage parade participants to perform throughout the parade route so viewers throughout the community can enjoy the creative talent of all of the participants.
In additional benefit of the changes is the main routes through the borough will be opened more quickly to allow traffic flow to return to normal earlier than under the old route.
Free refreshments will be served prior to and during the parade near the judges stand on W Broad street and also in the parking lot of the Upper Dauphin High School after the parade along with the presentation of the prize awards.
Parade night is October 20, registration begins at 5:30 pm and ends at 6:30. Parade starts at 7pm.
