The real estate transfer tax strips equity from property owners - the same equity that you plan to use for your next home, to spend on your children's education or for your retirement. It also forces sellers, who have already been paying property and sales taxes for years, to pay disproportionately more for the services and infrastructure that benefit all county residents (including non-sellers).
