I just don't understand what is going on with teenagers these days......
My first career is a Loan Officer, and I devote most of my time to getting clients and learning as much as possible to be the best I can at this business. But I also work at Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar in Huntersville. I'm the bartender (come by and see me anytime!!!) I work there for the extra cash because I'm new to the business and I need the cash flow. It's also located next to a hotel and apartment complex so I do get a lot of people who are interested in buying homes, but lets get to why I'm writing this blog.....
I was working the bar on Friday, and it was a typical Friday around 530, we had just opened and I was getting some things together for the weekend rush that we usually have. I look up and see a teenage boy (stoned) and his girlfriend (stoned). They sit down and order about 50 dollars worth of sushi. It's made for them and the boy starts eating it, his friend finishes drinking her water and gets up and says "I'm leaving, call me when your done". He acknowledges her and continues eating his sushi. After about 15 minutes of him eating I start picking up his empty platters and ask him if I can get him anything else. He says to me "No, I'll take the check.... and uh... wheres your bathroom?"
I think to myself "He's going to walk out on me".... I tell him where the bathroom is and he gets up and starts walking toward it. The front door is right in front of the bar, and the bathroom is to the left of the front door. So what do you think he does??? He walks right out the front door!!! I laugh, grab the check and follow him out the front door to see what he is plans are. He gets into his car puts it into reverse and begins to pull out. I was standing right next to his window and we make eye contact. I smile with the check in my hand waving it at him. The little punk winks at me and drives off.
Being very smart that day for some reason I had a pen handy, so I wrote down his liscence plate number, went inside and phoned the police.
After filing a report with the police I went for a ride with a nice police officer in Huntersville (I forgot her name, but she was great). And ofcourse, the kid lived in a neighborhood where the houses were worth around 250 to 300 thousand dollars. Spoiled BRAT!!! I get there and he's outside with 2 other officers. The officers ask me if this is the "suspect". And it was so I said yes.
Now comes the part as to what we should do to the kid. At first I was thinking I should just make him pay the bill and ban him from the restaruant. (If he doesn't pay for the bill then I have to!!! and that IS NOT HAPPENING) I ask the officers what he said and they told me that the kid was saying the he wasn't in the restaurant at all, then he said he was at the restaurant but his girlfriend was supposed to pay for him. So he was lying the whole time. I call the owner, who happens to be a good friend of mine and tell him he was lying. As soon as I said that he tells me to press charges. The kid was taken into handcuffs and taken away.
Now.... What is the deal with some of these kids?? Why do they assume that since there parents are rich, they can do whatever they want??!?! And if the kid has money, why did a 50 dollar bill of sushi have to ruin his weekend? I'm not blaming the parents at all, I just don't understand teenagers logic..... at all.
Hope you enjoyed my weekend as well as I did!!! lol.... good luck to everyone and let me know if I can help with anything at all!!!!!
