Homes Are Our Business. . . Helping the Homeless a Pleasure

By
Real Estate Agent with Baird & Warner Real Estate

HomelessnessReal estate is a business that allows me to be involved in one of the most exciting aspects of a person's life, home ownership.  I LOVE working with people to find the perfect home and am thrilled when we find that place that perfectly suits my clients.

Each day I get to spend time helping people achieve security, independence and wealth through buying and selling properties, but as I am touring homes and attending home inspections, calling attorneys and creating marketing, there are numerous families in my town who do not have the basics of everyday life.  Through any number of circumstances they find themselves without a place to call home.

As the days get shorter and the nights gets colder, I am reminded how difficult life must be for these people and felt compelled to help.  As a result, Radcliffe Realty in Shorewood, IL will be coordinating a food drive to benefit the clients of Daybreak Shelter

Beginning November 3rd, the agents will begin canvassing local neighborhoods and dropping off shopping bags for residents who are interested in helping.  On November 10, homeowners just need to leave the filled bag on their porch and we will return and collect the bags. The goal is to make it easy to participate and encourage as many as possible to get involved.

Daybreak is in constant need of non-perishable food stuffs, please check the expiration date of items you are donating to ensure they are still current.  In addition to food, the shelter can also use personal care products, especially men's razors and hair care products for their African American residents.

If you are interested in participating, please call me at 815-207-9703.  If it is more convenient, please feel free to bring your donations to our office at 700 W. Jeffeson Street in Shorewood, IL.

Let's work together to improve the lives of others in our community!

My office did something like this last year, but instead of doing the food drive we actually went to a homeless shelter in our area and cooked and served them dinner.  It really hit home for me when one of my kids that I work with from my other job as a probation officer was at the shelter with his family because they had no other place to go!  It really makes you feel wonderful and blessed for all the things that we a lot of times take for granted!

Lori, what a truly wonderful effort.  This is the part of real estate I love the most...giving back.  By the way, thanks for your clarification on the points issues on my post!

Hi Lori, this is one of the areas of life that so little means so much to those that do not have anything.  Very nice post.
