I LOVE Zumocast

I LOVE Zumocast

I used a new application today and fell in love…immediately.

Gimme a smartphone anyday!I have now been 48 hours without my Blackberry, having said goodbye on Wednesday. I am now the proud owner of a Droid3 which I am still getting used to.

Cell phones are sooo passé.

I used Zumocast (by Motorola) today for the first time at a listing I have to access some old photos from the property from my laptop at home to show my client – we were doing some staging of the furniture that had been removed some time ago but was now back.

For those of you already familiar with Zumocast, feel free to chime in, and continue to shake your head in disbelief that some folks don’t know about this. I won’t be insulted.

If you have never used Zumocast, or even heard of it, it’s pretty simple.

Set up your profile/account on your phone

Download Zumocast onto your PC/Laptop

Once you have acknowledged you have downloaded Zumocast you are ready to go.

You simply open up Zumocast on your phone wherever you are, tell it what to access (My Documents or your Desktop), and presto you have access to all of your files – pdfs, word docs, videos, photos, etc. I have 3G so the photos and videos take a little time to upload but I was pretty impressed.

What’s cool is you can stream your music and vids from your laptop to your mobile device without having to upload them. I’m hooked! "My documents" in my pocket.

Perhaps you know of other similar applications that folks here could take advantage of in addition to Zumocast. Of course you can always access Google Docs as one other option.

I can see all sorts of uses for this when I am out with clients to quickly pull up a file, or meeting with prospective sellers, especially if I don’t want to lug around my laptop.

Hi Jeff! Wow, this sounds wonderful! I can't count the number of times I have needed something from my home computer and I've had to tell the client, I'll get it for you when I get home.... this would really help!

Ted - that's a good question but I don't believe so. I am going to look into that.

Joan - I think it will be a big help in those time when you need to access a file, photo or video and the laptop is miles away.

Is it kind of like Dropbox? It sounds a lot like that. I'm laughing because Michelle calls herself a dinosaur.

LOL. Michelle is certainly NOT a tech dinosaur.

Yes I would say there are similarities since you are accessing through the Internet. But you don't have to download files elsewhere as you do with Dropbox (by putting INTO the Dropbon on your system).
