FTP for Mac - Filezilla is free

pull forward

After making the switch from PC to Mac I found myself still using the old PC for doing my HTML and FTP-ing.  It was getting pretty tiresome to fire up that old machine and wait... and wait.  I don't quite know why I didn't figure it out long before now, but anyway now I have finally got my FTP up and running on the macbook pro.  Hooray!

I downloaded Filezilla for mac, and it was FREE, you can't complain about that.  You can also use a version for PC too.  It works pretty smoothly and it wasn't hard to get it going, just like any other FTP application.

What was bugging me though was a way to quickly edit the text of the .html files.  Every time I would go to open the file it would open in Safari.  Well it was as simple as tweaking the preferences to always open that kind of file with text editor!  Just a little click.  How did I figure that out?  Mac forums.  It's so easy to ask a question and find the answer right there.  Hooray for Mac forums.  Ask and you will receive.

So, if you just made the big switch to Mac from PC, rest assured that you can still do your basic HTML coding and get down and dirty with your websites.  Have fun.

Now with that out of the way... my www.EastMaui.com website is updated once again with new links to blogs and videos.  Hooray!  I'm ready to help buyers and sellers with their Maui property needs.

Georgina-I've not owned a MAC since the mid-90's. I always here good things about them. As an old dog, not sure I want to learn new tricks, even though its tempting. Enjoy.

Georgina,

Free is good.  Now if only the Mac Air were too...  I'm going to break down and buy one before my next birthday!

Georgina,

We were Mac people for decades, but switched for accounting. However, it's great to hear of your Open Source solution and Mac success.

HI Georgina--I use all things Apple and love my Mac, but must say I had not heard of Filezilla before reading your post.  I am going to check it out right now.  Thanks.

I want a Mac but don't have enough IT help as it is... and I am afraid I would not be able to do as much as you have!

I used to be a PC user and everyone told me ... "get a mac and you'll be glad you did".  Now that I have had my macbook almost 2 years, I have to say it has been a really easy ride... no drama, no tech support needed, no down time.  I will never go back.

Thanks for all your comments, and if you decide to go mac, you can call me for help if you ever need it!
