Another attraction near Benicia - Redwood Valley Railway
In our continuing quest to find weekend entertainment within an easy drive of Benicia, we found the Redwood Valley Railway.
These small-scale steam engines will take you and your family on an open-air railroad journey through redwood tress in gorgeous Tilden Park. Parking is free and for only a few dollars you purchase your tickets and the old- fashioned train station before the train chugs in.
Get your seats and hand over your ticket to the conductor so that he can punch the ticket before handing back your souvenir. Listen to the whistle and see the steam billow from the engine as you begin your trip. Through the redwoods you cross bridges and traverse tunnels as you are treated to both breathtaking views and also to cute small wooden buildings built near the tracks.
I’m told that the trip is 12 minutes long but it definitely felt much longer. You can ride in open cars or in the more enclosed cars in back. This is a trip to take your kids on. For adults alone it may not be quite as exciting.
We are adding this to our list of fun adventures within easy reach of Benicia and these many attractions help to make Benicia a great place to live. If you’re wanting to find a quality rental home, make sure you contact Delgado Property Management
