For a hands on learning experience, check out Cape Romain Environmental Education Charter School (also known as CREECS). CREECS is a brand new charter school opening for the 2012-2013 school year. They are located in McClellanville, which is in northern Charleston county. The area has over 60,000 acres of beaches and salt marshes and over 22 miles of federally protected coastline. The natural resources in this area not only provide recreational activities but many people depend on them to make a living. CREECS educates children on these natural resources and emphasizes on ways to protect these natural resources. CREECS is also looking for volunteers to help out for the new school year. There are many tasks that need to be finished for the school year. If you are unable to volunteer, a monetary donation would be greatly appreciated.
