Enjoy a relaxing paddle through the natural habitat at Hampton Plantation in McClellanville, SC. The Hampton Plantation Historic Site and an unidentified local group are merging to offer a canoe and kayak tour and a history lesson at the former rice plantation on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 9:30 am. Partakers will explore the rice canals hand dug by slaves over 200 years ago. This area is now the home of a huge variety of plants and animal life. After lunch, a tour of the historic Hampton plantation home will be given. There will be certified canoe and kayak instructors and a naturalist from Nature Adventures Outfitters. Lunch will not be provided, so bring your own bagged lunch. Also, don’t forget your bug spray! Meeting time in the morning will be 9:30 am. The canoe and kayak adventure will be from 10 am until noon. The Hampton Plantation showing will begin around 1 pm. Space is very limited and only available for 20 guests.
