These guys invade our lake every Fall with a vengeance as tens of thousands of coots gather together to prepare for their migration south. Since Lake Pend Oreille rarely freezes over, the coots have been known to hang around well into Winter. I’ve never eaten a coot, but I hear coots are a mainstay in Cajun gumbo.
