How to Add that Subscribe Button & URL Link
I was inspired and encouraged to write this blog after reading a recent post by Pamela St. Peter from Raleigh, North Carolina. Pamela wrote Now Where Did I put those subscribers? She explained in her blog where to find all of your blog subscribers, but if you will notice she has a nice large Green “Subscribe to my Blog”button in her signature page.

Now newbies or even some not so new members may know about clicking on that “Subscribe” button on the right hand sidebar under all the Member’s Name and Photo, but what about all those “Subscribe Buttons” that we see in the Signature block of some member’s blogs?

Adding all those social media buttons wasn’t that difficult since I knew where to go get some “Cool Social Media Buttons”, and adding the “URL”(Uniform Resource Locator) was easy too, since I knew just to go to the web browser to copy and paste that link from all my social media sites. As always, I started asking other AR members how did they make their “Subscribe” button, and where did they get the “URL” link?

I was directed to one of our AR Ambassadors and Technology expert, Craig Daniels. Craig responded to my email and told me that the link was : Copy and paste this link below.

http://activerain.com/action/blogs_admin/subscribe?subscribed_agent_id=282400

Members ID number

Every Active Rain Member has an agent ID number, and mine was 282400. Craig told me to go to the comment section on the left hand side, and click on it. Then look up at the url link in the browser. I followed his instructions and copied and pasted this link above that he sent me and added my ID number.  Then, I created the “Subscribe” button by using Cooltext images. You can get a FREE graphics generator for your web pages or blog pages from http://cooltext.com. If you need hosting, there is a fee. But to create your buttons and download them for personal use is FREE.  Now you are ready to insert that "URL" link into the new Subscribe button that you just made. Click on the button, and insert that link. Easy as pie.

Adding the Subscribe Button

Now all you have to do is to go and add it into your signature block under blog settings. If you want to have a neat signature block for your blogs, I would recommend one of Craig Daniels Classroom Blogs. Craig had a 4 part series on adding your signatures to your blogs. Then you may want to check out Rebekah Radice's blog about “ How to Add Social Media Buttons to your Active Rain Signature.

Adding your very own  “Subscribe” button to all your blogs may get you a few more subscribers, or at least make it easier for those who want to follow you posts on a regular basis.

Jerry - Sign up for a free feedburner account and then add your blog.  Once you've done that, choose Publicize from the menu at the top.

On the left hand side you will have an option to allow email subscriptions.  Choose this and then create your headline animator.  Once it's complete you will grab the code and add it to your AR settings.  I hope this helps!

Great reblog Rebekah!  Excellent info on here for sure - you always have great info like David said, especially when posting to the "Build a Better Blog" group.  Will definitely have to make a point to get to your blog more often as the content is just great.
