A Little Free Advertising and Promotion Can Go a Long Way

Our office is having our annual JOLT retreat October 20 and 21st at the Ameristar Hotel and Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado.  I have been involved in helping to organize the event and getting door prizes donated for the attendees.

My husband was nice enough to donate 4 - $50 Office Max gift cards on behalf of his company, Spillman Technology Solutions.  OK, I had to twist his arm a bit, but he came around.

We are going to have bags with goodies to hand out to all 55 Realtors as they enter the seminar, so I put my thinking cap on and tried to figure out something I could stuff in those bags that would help to promote my husband’s IT company other than the door prizes.

I remembered large boxes in the basement with tons of plastic water bottles with his company info on them.  This afternoon I put together 55 of the water bottles which I will haul in to our office manager tomorrow.

You never know where one might end up.  Hopefully it will end up on the desk of an office manager somewhere while she is pulling her hair out trying to figure out who to hire to work on her company’s computer system.

It doesn’t hurt to try!!!!!

Better on someone's desk than in your basement!  What a cute dog...love your header...

It never hurts to give them a juicy offer with a benefit. Something that helps them understand what he can do for them and a limited time special for new clients.

Yvette,  That's right, my basement is full enough!

Sara,  Hopefully putting the name in front of them this way will help with promotion.

Michael,  I'm not sure how they came up with JOLT.  I know it is supposed to rejuvenate us and get us fired up to get out there and be Super Realtors.  I'm just not sure how they came up with JOLT.

Michael,  I will have to find out when I go to the office today.  Interesting.  I didn't think about the energy drink angle.

Chris,  Great idea.  That seems like an inexpensive way to get your name out there.

John,  If you ask Will he will probably tell you that he does all the work .... ha ha.  Luckily (or sadly) business has tapered off a bit now so I have extra time in the day.  Now - about those brownies......

Belinda - Not sure if this analogy fits or not BUT, my daughter's school was having a contest on guessing a pumpkin's weight.  She did not want to do it, for some odd reason.  She was worried it would be wrong (she is 7).  I explained to her that if she did not guess, she would get nothing.  If she did guess, there could be two outcomes, nothing (like before) or something.  She realized that having the chance at something outweighed any fears of being wrong and knowing you will have nothing.  I guess I feel marketing is the same, it could be wrong or go to wrong person that will not call, but you have that chance now of something.

BB, if the bottles were sitting there in the basement why not use them! They've already been paid for! Too funny, my husband is an IT guy too!

Hi Belinda, what a great gift and idea for the grab bags.  Everyone enjoys a new water bottle and it gets some free advertising for your husband.  A true...win...win.
