Occupy Wall Street!!!

I hear a lot about the Occupy Wall Street Movement lately...in the news, in passing, on the radio.  It's all over the place that a bunch of people have decided to gather and blame the big corporations of Wall Street for the ills of this great nation.

Here's the really cool thing...because we have this GREAT NATION, we have the RIGHT to assemble and protest anything we want.  We could even protest OXYGEN if we wanted to (pretty dumb move if you ask me, but it's been pretty dumb some of the things I've seen protested in the past!).

Anyway, these folks get to gather and protest...heck even Kanye West made a pop up appearance (well, he pulled up, got out of the car for a second, got back in and had the driver get him the heck away from this group of people making a statement.  Guess he didn't see Taylor Swift there to try to upstage and got bored pretty quickly. I don't really KNOW who they are financed by or backed by but you know the rumors whirl and swirl...is it REALLY grassroots?

I found an annotated photo of the demonstration and while I find it funny, I think it's so true!  I commented a few days ago on Karen Fiddler's ActiveRain Blog as she prepares for a lifestyle change to as many American made products as she can, that I love her idea because of it's implementation and that those that choose to only buy American for one day or don't buy gas on a gas out day are totally missing the point and not really ACCOMPLISHING ANYTHING!

See if you have the same thoughts about these Occupy Wall Street protesters (by they way, do you think any of these folks with all this cool stuff they are wearing and using have jobs or who do you think paid for a lot of it!?)

I inserted the photo large to make the annotations very easy to read! :)

Corporate Sponsors of the Occupy Wall Street movement?

Because we have to (for all intents and purposes) buy their products to have something to wear, to take photos with etc etc does NOT mean that we want corporate interests running the show in Washington.  That is in large part what the Occupy Wall Street movement is about.

It slays me when the radical right suggests that OWS is "not grassroots".  What a farce.  The Tea Party is in fact bankrolled by big money interests but OWS is certainly not.  In fact it reminds me of real estate transactions when some agents are way to quick to complain and think they're being treated in an underhanded fashion when in fact they're not - those who do underhanded things are always the quickest to assume others are - because acting in a sleazy fashion is all they know.

Hi Elizabeth, seems pretty counter productive to me.  I certainly agree with not wanting  ANYONE to control the government except the voting population, but we're far from that.

How can one be sure something is GRASSROOT or not?  I'm not CERTAIN whether this is grassroot and pure in it's drive and I'm certainly not SURE the Teaparty isn't grassroots...I'm not certain either one ISN'T grassroot either as I think ALL sorts of things START pure and get perverted quickly by $$$$!

Just wondering (and you have to admit it...the picture is funny,  I don't care who ya are! :) )

Hi Ron,

I think the picture is hilarious.  We need the ingenuity and creativity of American corporations for the ease of our day to day living.  If every teenager in America didn't "have to have" a smartphone to check their Facebook, some corporations wouldn't be doing so well.  It is a complicated economic/political/social climate we face.  Thanks for posting it.

I love this picture and posted it on FB as well... Is there any other country that allows what we allow? You're right that we allow you to protest anything you want as long as you stay within the legal requirements to let everyone else do what they want. (I missed Karen's post and will head there now)  I DO think it's rediculous that those of us are punished because we chose to work hard instead of protest but I guess it's their right.

Also, thank you for your subscription! I really appreciate it and find your blog to be very interesting as well!! SUBSCRIBED! :-) Thanks and have a super productive week!
