What can we learn from the Iron Man athletes? This will inspire you!

Just by chance last week I was in Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii.   We were surprised to see that it was Iron Man week, probably one of the most intense 1 day competitions in the world!  Watch the short video and get INSPIRED!! All week long we watched the contestants train, ride for miles on the boiling hot pavement over miles and miles of lava fields, running til they drop, and swimming faster than the sharks!

It made me muse on what type of dedication it must take for these elite athletes to be able to do such a feat?  Think about the grueling test, consisting of a 2.4-mile run,  a 112-mile bike and a marathon  (26.219 mi) run, raced in that order and without a break.  The winners came across the finish line in just over 8 hours, other contestants get cut off if they don't finish in 17 hours!  It was an amazing sight to see!

How hard it must be, the dedication, passion and perserverance!??  If we put half of that kind of effort into our businesses, our lives, our relationships,  how much better could it be?

So, after you watch this amazing video highlighting the day, sit back and reflect on your business and life.  Are there one or two things you can do right now to improve yourself, your busines and life?  If so, then

Just     Do    It !!

(and why not share with us all if this inspired you to make a change or two!)

I have seen so many problems during the swimming and biking portions of those competitions.  I think they should intesify their screeing.

This year I heard that they did have to qualify to enter, that hundreds of thousands of athletes tried to get in and couldn't, so this group now mostly consists of the top athletes in the world.  In fact, I'm not sure but I think everyone finished the swim in under the 2 hour twenty minute time frame.  Not sure about the rest of the race, and there are some racers that are over 80 years old, so obviously some probably didn't finish or took the whole 17 hours.

Obviously their competitive spirit is alive and well.  I plan to finish the year strong and I know I need to intensify my efforts, but I'm inspired to just do it--no excuses.
