Getting Accurate Information About Your Market

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Consultants

I read an article yesterday on Yahoo real estate that talked about the 10 cities that should see a market improvement for sellers more quickly than other areas. On that list was my city of Atlanta so I read the article and was a little disturbed about the information they presented because it did not seem accurate to me. I went into our local MLS, the FMLS to verify some statstics cited in the article and found that they were not correct so I posted about it on my own blog to correct the infomration. I suppose what I am getting at here is that if you want trusted and accurate infomration about your own real estate market, wherever you are, your best bet is to seek a local, competent real estate agent who acrually takes the time to understand their local market rather than relying on a large news conglomerate that often reports innaccurate information. If your reading this in Atlanta, you can view the corrected information on my Atlanta real estate blog.

Another recommendation that is in the best interest of you, the consumer, is to search homes from a local agent where you are likely to get better information about the area. We have gone to great lengths to present Atlanta homes in the easiest and most searchable way on our website, but we are not alone in this. Many other agents do an equally good job of providing accurate information and you should trust in that as a better source to help you with your real estate needs. Real estate is local. Always has been. Always will be.

Ryan,

If you are looking for markets that are currently still hot this months issue of Money Magazine says Wenatchee Washington  had a 1 year price increase of 23.5%, Salt Lake city had an increase of 16%, Grand Junction Colorado had a 14.3% increase, Seattle had a 9.9% increase and wilmington N.C had a 9.1% increase. Your state and mine for that matter did not make the list.
