Hi all!
I have heard several comments in the past few months about agents having no idea how home owners feel! The bottom line is "We are home owners to!"
Most of the realtors I know, (including myself) are also underwater or upside down on their homes. Some are barely holding on, some are in foreclosure, others are unable to sell because their homes have been devalued; just like you, we know how you fee!
My point is that we are in the same situation as our clients and we really do understand!! When you tell us that you have to sell because you lost your job, we understand! We don't get paid if we can't sell your home, so we have lost our income as well. In this economy, being able to sell your home at a profit is extremely difficult. Many REALTORS will reduce their commissions to almost nothing just trying to help you keep costs down.
This is not complaining or whining; I just want our clients to know that we really do understand and symphasize with our clients. I have a very dear friend who had to walk away from her home. She had refinanced in 2007 because she needed major repairs on her home. The bottom fell out of the market, and the rest is history! We tried every scenario we could and the bottom line is that it was not enough. She owed more than her home could sell for and because she was keeping up her payments, there was no help available.
The majority of the realtors out there are going to do everything they possibly can to help you, no matter what situation you are in with home. Be honest, tell them what you need and listen to their advise. They really do understand and want to help you.
