No, we’re not known for our fall color here in central Arizona but we do have lots of pumpkins! MacDonald's Ranch in Scottsdale kicked off their annual Pumpkin Patch on October 1st, with lots of fun activities for the whole family.
Once again, their horse- or mule-drawn hayrides will take you to the pumpkin patch, where you can pick from a variety of different sized pumpkins to take home, carve and decorate. There are also pony rides for the kids.
The petting zoo features their miniature donkeys, Pete and Repeat, as well as their miniature pony Chocolate. They have some new bunnies, chickens, ducks and peacocks in the menagerie also. Gunner, the Brahma Bull, will be keeping their new baby colt, Bull's-eye, company!

There are lots of games for everyone to enjoy, from their classics - steer head roping, horseshoe pits, gem mine and cowboy golf - to their large hay maze. If you work up an appetitite roping steers, the grill will be open with hot dogs, pulled-pork sandwiches, drinks and much more.
The pumpkin patch is open through October 31st, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed after 1 p.m. on Halloween.) The admission price is $8 per person (12 months and younger are FREE) and pumpkins are $4 to $12, depending on size.

Want to contribute to a great cause? Take a can of food to get $1 off your admission price (limit $1 off per person.) MacDonald’s Ranch is once again working with Desert Mission Food Bank to help feed those in need in our community.
MacDonald’s Ranch is located on Scottsdale Road just 5 miles north of the 101, on the southwest corner of Jomax Road and Scottsdale Road.
Get out there this weekend and pick some pumpkins!
About MacDonald’s Ranch
A 36,000 acre working horse and cattle ranch back in the 1950’s, Old MacDonald’s Farm opened to the public in 1970 as a place where kids from the city could watch a cow being milked, see live ranch animals and be in natural surroundings as they ride horses in the Sonoran Desert. Years passed, the Valley grew and, with the exception of what is now MacDonald’s Ranch’s 1,300 acres, the surrounding North Scottsdale land became shopping centers and housing developments. MacDonald’s Ranch offers an atmosphere where visitors can relax and take a step back in time for a look at authentic ranch life.
