Fall day at the Tippecanoe Battlefield Park in Battle Ground, Indiana.
This is the site of The Battle of Tippecanoe where native American forces led by The Prophet attacked troops commanded by General William Henry Harrison.
Burnett's Creek meanders just west of the battle site as Harrison's men were encamped on the plateau 20-40 yards to the east of the creek.
The Battle of Tippecanoe is generally regarded as the opening shot of the War of 1812 with Britain even though the battle was fought on November 7, 1811!
The Tippecanoe Battlefield Park is located seven miles north of Lafayette in historic Battle Ground, Indiana. There is an excellent interpretative museum with restroom facilities open daily. There are also picnic facilities as it is a wonderful place for a picnic lunch under the shade of the massive white oak trees!
