Coca Cola Celebrates its 125 Year Anniversary, and It's a Celebration in Springfield, Mo.
Today, October 15, Coca Cola of the Ozarks opened up its bottling factory at 1777 N. Packer Rd in Springfield, MO for the public take a tour through the building. We only stood in line for about ten minutes and then we were inside watching bottles on the conveyor belts, filling up with coca cola, topping with a lid, and then heading off to get labeled. This factory produces over eight different sizes and today they were bottling 20 oz. bottles of Coke.
After seeing how it was done, each visitor was handed a fresh cold coke directly off the line, without the label. It was delicious, the perfect temperature, 32 degrees. I never drink Coke, but I have to say it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!
I especially enjoyed the tour as my Grandfather and Grandmother owned a pop factory in Branson, Mo in the late 50's. I always wondered what that might have looked like. It is amazing the amount of technology that exists today. As if the conveyor belt didn't move fast enough, the management shared the factory had just bought a new belt system that goes twice as fast.
Family owned since 1920, Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company employs 330 people and serves the communities of Springfield, Bolivar, Lebanon and Rolla.
It is really hard to believe Coca Cola is 125 years old!
