Silent Saturday

Growing up in Topeka, Kansas, our across the street neighbors had one of these - it was even this color.  Back then I thought it was pretty lame.  Now?  I think it would make a great real estate car.

For those of you who are very young (like under 50), this is an old Studebaker.  And there is actually a Studebaker Museum in South Bend, Indiana where these futuristic cars were produced.  At least back in the 50's, people thought they were sort of futuristic.

I can totally see you cruising around in that grand old car, showing property and getting it DONE!

My dad used to have a studebaker and did he love it. Looking at it now 27 years later, it is a very cool car - back then, not so much!

Okay now, I've never heard of the name and yes, I'm not quite 50 yet.

I agree, that will be a great real estate car. My vision of my real estate car would be a black 70s Stingray Corvette convertible. It beats those Lexuses, BMWs, Mercedeses. Far too normal.

Then my husband felt his real estate "car" should be a TRIKE. Now, that's  way cool.

I don't know if it is true or not, but I heard that the studebaker family still produces the car on a smaller scale. Anybody know if that is true?

Thanks Patricia

Cool Pat...a friend of mine had a Hillman (?!) as her first car & it looked like a mini studebaker...it was wheels & that is all that mattered!

Just imagine a car with a roomy rear seat! Trouble for those of us in warmer climates, many  were built without air conditioning!

Home is where the hearth is.

I'd say the image you have above is a 1957 Studebaker Starlight.

You mean back in the day when cars were made of metal and they could hit a mailbox without doing damage to anything but the mailbox, right? Yes, you have to be over 50 to remember those days...............

Howdy and morning Patricia

Patricia, the Studebaker sure has always been a mighty fine looking car. Back home in Missouri, I was always wanting to get a hold of one of the few Studebaker Pickups which had been built.

Have a good one
