Portsmouth NH Haunted House - Can You GUESS This Year's Theme???

haunted house in portsmouth nh

Looking for some awesome Halloween fun in the Portsmouth, New Hampshire area?

There's a "haunted house" at 292 Middle Road, in Portsmouth that is NOT TO BE MISSED.

Every year, as a gift to the city, this barn and surrounding property are transformed into a Halloween dream nightmare come true by the homeowner.

They open their Halloween house of horror to the public every night

from 5pm to 9pm through Oct. 31.

Here's the best part...IT's FREE!

I've already been twice this year and, as always, it's fabulous!

Going before dark is interesting because you can really appreciate the detail, but going after dark is the most fun!

Every year there is a different theme.

Three years ago it was a Children's Home theme and last year was a Circus theme.

Here are some pictures from this year.  See if you can guess the theme...

Sharon, I'm with Carla #6, I think it's a movie theme. I can see Bram Stoker's Dracula and Edgar from Men in Black...

Lise:  Great guess, but sorry not this year...a good suggestion for next year!

Roger:  Too funny!  You have your own haunted house!  NOthing like this though...good thing!  What I love about this house is there are no ghoulies jumping out at you, it's a walk through at your own pace and take it all in adventure with no live characters to worry about.

Lori:  I'm sure I'll be back at least once this year...on trick or treat night they put out a big caldron of candy!

Rene:  It's my favorite time of year!

Joanna:  I live set back in the woods and don't get trick or treaters either.  I miss them.

Carla:  Your guess is a good one, but sorry, NO.  My pictures just don't do the place justice...you wouldn't believe this is just someone's home...they not only do the barn, they do the whole outside area too.

Peg:  Sorry, not movies, although there was a movie about this...one word title.  Another clue soon.

Ha! Ha! Ha! @ Roger! That was very witty. My only gripe is that I didn't think of it first!

Janice:  I'm actually surprised.  I know it's always more obvious when you know the answer, but I thought for sure someone would get it!  I'll post another clue.

Craig:  What no guess from you???

HERE IS A CLUE:

The number of photos shown (not including the creepy guy at the top of post) is no coincidence.

Plus, I gave a clue to Peg in my comment #8.

Sharon, would give many people the frights! And I can't believe for free....our local scare house is more than $10 per person. I'm usually the one who laughs as I drag the others screaming through the decorations.

Hi Sharon,

I am glad I commented after seeing the theme, because I had a hard time guessing.  I do love haunted houses though and think it is great how people really get into it and build crazy stuff like this.  It is fun and community building.

Scott:  I've been twice already and have plans to bring my cousin and his wife this weekend.

Janice:  I guess it's really only obvious when you know the answer, LOL!

Kathy:  Maybe in all your spare time you could be the one who creates one for the community, LOL!  Can you imagine the time, not to mention money, they have invested?
