A sign of good things to come...I just got calls from 2 customers from 2 yrs ago

I think this is good sign of things to come.

A week or two ago, I got a call from a customer I met at a home show 2 years ago.  She is now "almost" ready to install some new hardwood floors and refinish her existing floors.  To make a long story short, life got in the way, and now they are "ready."  However, they didn't realize they can't walk on the floors while this is being done, so Part 1 will take place in sthe spring and Part II in early summer when they will be away.

Last night, I also got a call from a past customer I had met at a home show.  We had done a nice area rug tone on tone pattern with a border.  They had recently moved into their home, and couldn't afford to do all of the work they wanted to due to all the moving expenses, but now they are ready.

Addendum - Just got an email from a 3rd customer from over a year ago who is looking to finally refinish her floors.  They keep popping up.

I'm so excited about both of these prospects.  I'm excited that they remembered me and called.  (And, both were surprised that I remembered them immediately including where they lived and what we were looking at...thank goodness I have  a good membory).

But, there's another reason I'm excited...it means that the "pent up demand" that people were talking about a couple of years ago, is starting to come to fruition.  There are definitley things that so many have put off due to the economy, and while some items are definitely luxuries, there comes a time when people need to take action.

This is the beginning of good things to come.  And, this is a wake up call, that I need to do a bit more marketing to my past and open customers.  It's been on my mind the last couple of weeks, but I really need to do it now..by the end of the month.

Over the past 18 months we've definitely see people move from "wait and see" to "take action" mode in NYC.  Though national news reports are all doom and gloom, there are many pockets around the country with stable, diversified economies and their residents are moving on with their lives.

Congrats and thanks for the positive spin this morning!  It's always nice to start out thinking that way, no matter what the headlines tell us.  Best of luck!

Yes to marketing more to your past customers. Also I think many people now are actually waiting until they can afford to do things as all the scenarios suggest.  Glad you're getting the business you've worked so hard to obtain.

I'm not convinced that the optimism you have in the near future is evolving. As a nation we are in quicksand financially and I pray our leaders will reign in our national debt because if they don't, we'll be posting stories of severe consequences.

Debbie, I think your story illustrates the importance of staying in touch with leads and prospects over time, because if someone is interested in your services but doesn't work with you right away, it's likely that they will in the future. A CRM system makes it so easy to organize prospects and keep in touch over time. Are you using one? IXACT Contact is a great option :)

I just closed a home with a couple who have looked for the last 18 months. We just have to keep putting them in one end of the pipe to get them out the other.

That is a great sign and trend! I know some friends in Flagstaff that do redecorating are really busy, so it must be signs of a busy season coming up!

Sylvie - Oh yes, it's gotten even busier since I wrote this.  Every week, we have had at least 2 repeat customer and that has held true for the last 6 weeks or so.

I think the market is definitely starting to pick up, as I am seeing more home builders building spec homes as well.  I also just wrote a contract on a $500k condo on a guy I had been working with for almost 4 years, who had been slow to buy "because of the economy".  I think most people know the market has hit bottom, and inventory levels have dropped...so people are jumping back in the real estate game.

Good news for Realtors like me, and flooring folks like you!
